The site is within an area of former buildings which were demolished by 1972, after which the day care and school for special-needs children was built to the west, and a car park installed between the two facilities. The area has been infilled in modern times as detailed by O’Donnell (93E0127) who reported on the works preceding the building of the current porch. She reported that layers of rubble were removed due to their instability, to a depth of 1.2m. The area was backfilled with industrially crushed stone, which was all that was exposed by the current testing. No archaeological layers will be disturbed by the building of the foundations of the raft.
