Monitoring of slit trenches was undertaken in advance of the installation of a new water pipeline. The purpose of the slit trenches was to determine the below-ground stratigraphy which would inform the final design of the pipeline. The trenches were excavated adjacent to a rath (TYR039:029) and an ecclesiastical site (TYR039:024). Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered. Further monitoring will be required when the pipeline is being installed.
