Licence was extended into 2017 to cover construction-led archaeological monitoring of the footpath scheme. This occurred from 8 December 2016 to 16 February 2017 and again between 13 February and 7 March 2017. This work incorporated topsoil stripping for the extent of the pedestrian route construction, the drainage line extending north from the Circular Road along the east side of the R505 to connect with existing drainage and stripping within the field in order to level and spread excavated soils to return the field to agricultural (grazing) standards. No archaeology was encountered, although some late 19th-century domestic debris was found in the central portion of the scheme.
A date of 1856+/-34BC was returned from willow samples obtained from the pit identified in the previous season and under the same licence.
