Monitoring of groundworks associated with building an extension and associated siteworks was undertaken at St. Michael's National School, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
The proposed works were within the constraint area of the historic town of Holycross (TN047-030). The school grounds are located c. 93m west of Holycross Cistercian Abbey, a National Monument.

The monitoring of ground works revealed no trace of any archaeological features/remains. The areas monitored had been stripped of the original topsoil, which would have occurred at the time of constructing the main school building in the latter half of the twentieth century.

The works had no impact on the historic town of Holycross (TN047-030).
