In May 2017 a fence was erected across the OPW yard behind the courthouse in Cashel, Co. Tipperary. The yard is enclosed to the north and west by the medieval town wall, and groundworks were monitored. Post-holes for the fence posts cut subsoil under a shallow garden soil to the north-east, but failed to reach the base of imported garden soil and post-medieval building debris to the south-west. No medieval settlement remains, or other material of archaeological interest, were found.
