Testing was requested as further information by Tipperary County Council (Planning Ref.: 16/600687), due to the proximity of a recorded castle site to the proposed residential development (TN036-007).
Three trenches were excavated across the site and the spoil from the trenches was spread prior to backfilling to examine for artefacts that might be present. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the programme of work – either in the trenches or within the topsoil.
