2017:813 - N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development, Sligo

Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services, consisting of pre-excavation preparatory work, involved the exposing of 55 sites (Areas 1-46) identified during Stage (i) test-trenching of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development. This included topsoil stripping of the known sites, pre-excavation cleaning of archaeological deposits and features, limited half-sectioning of features to determine depth of deposits, pre-excavation plans of each Stage (ii) Area and relevant reporting requirements.

The subsequent sites were recorded during Stage (iii) excavation works and details of the individual archaeological areas are included in their own bulletins.
