Stage (iii) archaeological excavation was carried out at Kingsbrook 3 in advance of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development, Co. Sligo. The site was discovered during Stage (i) archaeological testing and was assessed during Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services (Registration Number E4627).

The excavation at Kingsbrook 3 recorded the remains of two small pits.
The first measured 0.65m x 0.45m x 0.38m and it is unclear if it is archaeological in nature or is a naturally infilled stone socket or a partial rabbit burrow.

The second measured 0.8m x 0.55m x 0.5m and contained six separate fills. The material had distinct stratigraphy including two layers of charcoal. The lack of heat-affected subsoil surrounding the cut would suggest the charcoal was dumped from elsewhere. It is likely that the pit served as a waste pit for unknown activity outside the confines of Kingsbrook 3.
