Archaeological Assessment was requested in advance of development along the Top Rd., Strandhill, Co.Sligo. There were no recorded monuments on the proposed development site, nor is the proposed development site within the area of archaeological constraint surrounding a recorded monument. However, the site is located in a landscape with a rich and diverse archaeological heritage. Site is located along an area of urban development in Strandhill at the base of Knocknarea.
A programme of archaeological testing was carried out in advance of development. Seven test trenches were mechanically excavated across the site. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were encountered.
