Stage (iii) archaeological excavation was carried out at Carroweighter 3 in advance of the N60 Oran Road Realignment Project, Co. Roscommon. The site was discovered during Stage (i) archaeological testing (11E0247) and was assessed during Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services.
The excavation at Carroweighter 3 (RO 34-112003) recorded the remains of two kilns, thirty-three pits, eight stake-holes and two post-holes. These pits and post-holes were dispersed across the site but could be interpreted as organised into four discrete clusters.
Post-excavation analyses are ongoing.
