Planning permission was granted to construct a telecommunications mast at Kilbrew, Co. Meath. Condition 16 of the grant required pre-development testing on the site. There are a number of recorded monuments in Kilbrew townland including ME038-010, an embanked enclosure or henge.
Six trenches were excavated, four of them within the proposed compound enclosing the tower and the other two along the route of the access driveway. The stratigraphy was consistent across the six trenches.
No archaeological material was exposed during testing and no artefacts were recovered.
