Testing of a site at Kentstown, Co. Meath, undertaken in advance of development, found no evidence of settlement contemporary with the medieval RMP sites in the locality. In general the proposed development site was archaeologically sterile, highlighting its historic association with agricultural practices as opposed to settlement.
The singular archaeological feature recorded was located in Trench 1, in the south-eastern corner of the site. This took the form of a linear feature or large pit, on the upper surface of which one flint flake (a piece of debris associated with the shaping of flint tools) and several pieces of burnt bone and charcoal were uncovered. These are all classic indicators of prehistoric activity.
