Topsoil was stripped over the whole of the site under archaeological supervision on several dates in February and March 2017. The topsoil measured an average 0.3m in depth and overlay a yellow-brown boulder clay and grey stony natural substrata. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed. The site had the appearance of having been stripped before and aerial photographs taken in recent years would appear to confirm that. This stripping took place during the development of the existing Grange Hall housing development and was previously monitored.
