Monitoring took place in the townlands of Belmullet, Corclogh, Carn (Fowler), Tallagh, Atticonaun and Toorglass as part of the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme. The majority of pipe-laying was undertaken along roads or previously disturbed ground. As per the recommendations of the archaeological assessment and as outlined in the licence application, the following site locations were closely monitored: the greenfield area located south from the town of Belmullet along the Toorglass Road (site of the treatment plant) and other sections adjacent to the secondary school and the canal on the outskirts of the town. Close monitoring also took place near the Community Hospital. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
