Archaeological investigation of a trench to receive a new electrical duct was required at Blackabbey, Adare, Co Limerick. The duct will supply a new electrical connection to Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort, Adare, Co Limerick. The final phase of the work was undertaken under archaeological supervision and comprised the hand excavation of a trench 10m long by 1m wide with a 2m by 2m extension at its northwestern end where it adjoins an existing ESB pole.

Underlying topsoil a deposits of mixed dark brown charcoal rich topsoil was revealed up to a depth of 0.34m. A number of stray finds including sherds of medieval pottery and a copper alloy perforated key/peg were found in the deposit. This material also filled a number of furrows which extended across the trench cutting the underlying mid orange clay subsoil. No other features were revealed.
