Archaeological monitoring was carried out of excavation works associated with the upgrading of the waste water treatment system at Emo Court, Co. Laois Trench excavations in the courtyard on the west side of the Emo dwelling house revealed repeated historic excavation work in earlier decades for the insertion of modern service ducts; the ground profile comprised mainly of redeposited backfill over these services. Connecting excavated trenches in the formal garden area to the rear of the house revealed a high level of natural limestone rock on which Emo House is built, falling away to lower levels of limestone extending northwards. There was no archaeological material found.
