Stage (i) archaeological testing within Test Areas 5-10 M7 Osberstown Interchange & R407 Sallins Bypass, Co. Kildare was carried under Ministerial Direction No. A073. The work was undertaken on behalf of Kildare County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
A total of 22,341 linear metres of test trenches were excavated in Test Areas 5–10 within the roadtake for the scheme. A total of 13 sites containing archaeological potential were identified in these areas which have been designated as Osberstown 1–8, Sallins 1, Barrettstown 1–3, Waterstown 1 and Castlesize 1 and 2.
The sites were subsequently subject to Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Archaeological Services.
