The test excavation was carried out between 4 and 7 July 2017. A total of 45 test trenches were excavated across the c.12-acre development site, comprising a total of 1841 linear metres.
175 linear features were revealed in the trenches, of which 158 were likely to be plough furrows and 3 were stone-filled field drains. The remaining 14 larger linear features were likely to be boundary ditches. Four small pits or post-holes were also recorded. None of these features yielded datable artefacts.
