Testing was undertaken with regard to a planning application to construct a single-storey generator building at the Kerry Technology Park, Dromthacker, within the north-eastern urban expansion of Tralee town.
The proposed development site comprises unenclosed rough neglected ground of former pasture now overgrown with scrub, briars and other vegetation.
Three 20m long north-south orientated linear test trenches (T1-T3) were opened across the footprint of the proposed generator building with a back-acting track-machine using a 1.8m wide flat bucket. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted.
