2017:590 - KILDUFF, Kerry

Test excavation was undertaken with regard to a planning application to install a marquee structure with associated car parking and ancillary works at Glenduff Manor House, Tralee, Co. Kerry. Ten test trenches (T1-T10) were opened across the footprint of the proposed development site. The trenches were incrementally opened with a back-acting track machine with a 1.8m wide flat grading bucket. T1–T6 were orientated north-east/south-west and were situated on the field west of Glenduff House. Four c.20m long trenches, T7–T10, orientated east-west were excavated south of Glenduff House on flat, wet pasture. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the test trenches.
