Monitoring of ground works associated with the construction of Tullahennel North and Tullahennel South wind farms, the associated borrow pit and other associated infrastructure was undertaken in compliance with the conditions of planning permission granted for the developments. Monitoring of peat and topsoil removal on both sites over a period of 11 months did not reveal any archaeological features, finds or deposits.

Monitoring of topsoil removal associated with the construction of a substation site at Kilpaddoge (Tullahennel Wind Farm substation) and associated access road was also undertaken in June 2016. Previously noted sites exposed in testing (Nelis 2013) and preserved in situ were fenced off and excluded from the development site in compliance with Condition 7 of the grant of Planning Permission. Monitoring was also undertaken over 4 days where the removal of topsoil exposed three archaeological deposits/spreads/features thought to represent the remains of burnt spreads or fulachta fiadh. Works in the area stopped pending the full resolution of the features. The resolution stage of the project was undertaken by another firm under a separate excavation licence.
