Pre-development testing of a proposed quarry extension at Glannagilliagh, Caragh Lake, Co. Kerry was carried out over a period of three days in August 2017. The testing was requested as Further Information by the planning authority. Deep peat and existing drainage restricted the excavation in places, however a total of 17 trenches were excavated and natural gravel was exposed in all. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were exposed in the trenches and no recorded archaeological monuments are located in the immediate vicinity of the site.
