Monitoring was carried out for the construction of a nine-turbine windfarm development (named Leanamore Windfarm) at Leanamore, Lislaughtin and Gurteennacloona, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry. The development site is situated 3km south-west of Tarbert and 3km south-east of Ballylongford. It encompasses parts of six townlands, three in Kilnaughtin parish (Glansillagh, Glancullare South and Gurteenavallig) and three in the parish of Aghavallen (Gurteenacloona, Leanamore and Lislaughtin).

Monitoring was carried out by Joseph Nunan for Archaeological Management Solutions (AMS Consultants), between February and August 2017. No monitoring took place during the month of June 2017; no topsoil was removed. Excavation was carried out by machines fitted with flat grading buckets.

Development works associated with the construction of the windfarm consisted of the excavation of new access tracks and the upgrading of existing site tracks, excavation of nine turbine bases, crane hardstands, a substation building, a site compound, a meteorological mast, drains, utilities and electrical ducting.

All monitoring was carried out as per the recommendations of the Archaeological Programme of Works. On all occasions monitoring revealed peat and topsoil sealing in-situ geologically deposited strata. No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed. Nothing of archaeological significance was therefore impacted by the development.
