Partial excavation took place of a collapsed megalithic structure in Killaclohane Wood 1km east of the portal tomb Ke047-052 excavated under license number 15E0132 in the same townland. Excavations were undertaken at the northern end of the tomb where the 5.7m long capstone had broken when the structure collapsed. Removal of a small broken piece of the capstone allowed access to the northern end of the monument. Excavation uncovered evidence of dry stone walling at the northern end and the presence of a number of large stones trapped under the fallen capstone. A single cremation deposit accompanied by fragments of poorly preserved pottery was uncovered. Further investigation of the site will be undertaken in 2018.
