Test excavations were undertaken as a constituent part of a planning application to construct a single house at Dromkeen East, Causeway, Co. Kerry. A small section of the northern limits of the proposed development site is situated within the zone of notification of Blackpool Ringfort, KE015-013.
Two 45m linear north-west/south-east-running test trenches 1m in width and 5m apart, were excavated across the width of the northern limits of the site with negative results. In 2015 the author undertook an impact assessment on an abutting plot that included a series of licensed test excavations (15E0104). Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
