In advance of construction of a new Tote building at the Galway Race Course, archaeological monitoring was requested because of the development location relative to RMP sites in Ballybrit and particularly within the Galway Race Course. Monitoring was carried out incrementally during the demolition of the existing Tote building, the construction of the new building and the insertion of services. Monitoring showed that the tarmacadam surfaces rest directly on undisturbed formerly agricultural land. Nothing of an archaeological nature was found.
