Four trenches each measuring 135m were excavated across the proposed area. In addition, a large area measuring 40m east-west by 102m was topsoil stripped. The extension to the quarry area was adjacent to a known Rath/Burial site (FER 211:011). The archaeological watching brief was carried out from 9–12 January 2017. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
