An archaeological assessment at the site of a Protected Structure, Alston, 19 Temple Road, Dublin 6 was carried out. The assessment was carried out as a condition of planning (3142/17). There are no Recorded Monuments within the confines or close to the development lands. The site of Rathmines Castle (DU022-087) is located approximately 250m north-west of the development lands close to Palmerstown Park.
Three test trenches were excavated to the rear of the dwelling house. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing phase and no finds of heritage interest were noted in the historical files.
