An archaeological assessment at the former Blake’s Restaurant and Esmonde Motors, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin was carried out. Currently the development lands comprise a large car park area as well as dilapidated buildings associated with the former Blake’s restaurant and Esmonde motors including a boarded-up house. There are no Recorded Monuments within the confines or close to the development lands. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing phase and no finds of heritage interest were noted in the historical files. Early 19th-century cartographic evidence record the development lands as laid out in small green fields, a lane running through the centre of the lands as well as a gate lodge and some dwellings arranged in a linear fashion along the main road into Stillorgan in the later period. Four long test trenches were excavated within the footprint of the development plans and no archaeological remains were uncovered.
