An assessment was carried out on 19 May 2017 at Stanford House, Foxrock, Co. Dublin where it is proposed to construct a new residential development.
The monitoring was carried out in compliance with recommendations made by An Bord Pleanala (06D.246699). The site of the proposed development is located immediately adjacent to and includes Stanford House. Stanford House is a protected structure within an Architectural Conservation Area (DunLaoghaire-Rathdown County Development Plan 2016-2022).
The topsoil was removed from the proposed new access road, green and courtyard areas to the west and south of Stanford House. It had a maximum depth of 0.3m and was removed on to a natural yellow sandy boulder clay and gravel. A stone and brick wall foundation measuring 0.5m in width was exposed running roughly north-south parallel to the north-eastern courtyard wall. It is likely to represent a small 19th/20th-century shed or outbuilding which stood against the courtyard wall.
No archaeological features or deposits were recorded and no finds were recovered.
