A significant quantity of articulated human remains were identified on the grounds of St Mary's Parish Church in Howth, Co. Dublin. St Mary’s Church is located on an earlier known medieval burial ground (DU015:042) and the remains are believed to date to this period.
Excavation of the identified remains was undertaken. Preliminary results suggest a minimum number of 31 articulated individuals, with a substantial amount of disarticulated human remains and animal bone also recovered. The burials, which pre-date the construction of the first church, are most likely early medieval in date and associated with a cemetery/settlement site.
