St. Anne's Well from which St. Anne's Park gets it's name, was one of the many Park's 19th-century structures and follies cleaned, repaired and restored by Dublin City Council. Monitoring specifically took place of the cleaning and removal of overgrowth and historic build-up of soil and organic matter within the well. Hand-excavation of the interior of the well of organic build-up revealed the original circular opening in the base of the well with it's 19th-century metal grille in place. Further cleaning to the the front of the ovoid stone structure revealed a section of granite stone paving extending from the well opening for 2.45m. The well has been dry for many decades but in 1902 it provided 'a fine spring of water' (Divers)
