An archaeological assessment was carried out at a site of a proposed residential development off the Hearse Road at Corballis, Donabate, Co. Dublin. The overall development covers an approximate area of 7.5ha and is currently set out as four small field under rough grazing and two large fields under tillage.
Twenty-three test trenches totalling 2663 linear metres were excavated within the site. No archaeological material was recorded in the excavated test trenches. However, previous archaeological assessments have been undertaken within the site. These comprised geophysical survey (05R0124) followed by targeted test excavation (07E0650) and identified a burnt spread/fulacht fiadh within the site at ITM 722622, 749557. The current phase of test trenching which was carried out across the remainder of the site identified no new sites of archaeological potential.
