The proposed development is located on a 3.18ha site, north of the Clonsilla Road, west of Clonsilla Village and adjacent to DU013-017, St Mary’s Church of Ireland church. A test excavation carried out in 2004 within the church grounds identified 32 inhumation burials, dating from the 19th century onwards. These burials were located outside the designated burial ground. There is potential for additional burials to be located within the south-western portion of the current development site. However, it was not possible in the course of this assessment to excavate any test trench within 20m of St Mary’s church. Ten test trenches totalling 995 linear metres were excavated within the site. No archaeological finds or features were uncovered during the assessment phase.
