The topsoil was removed from the proposed new access road green and courtyard areas to the west and south of Stanford House. It had a maximum depth of 0.30m and was removed on to a natural yellow sandy boulder clay and gravel. A stone and brick wall foundation measuring 0.50m in width was exposed running roughly north-south parallel to the north-eastern courtyard wall. It is likely to represent a small 19th/20th century shed or outbuilding which stood against the courtyard wall. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded and no finds were recovered. It is recommended that the proposed development be allowed to proceed without any further archaeological requirements
