An archaeological evaluation was carried out in relation to a proposed new dwelling located 25m north-west of 16 Waddells Hill, Comber, Co Down in response to a request from the DfC:HED under Planning Policy Statement 6 Built Heritage 3 (PPS6:BH3) for more information.
A series of machine-cut trenches were excavated across the development area as a means of identifying whether any sub-surface archaeological remains survive which may be impacted upon by the development. Test trenching revealed a heavy red-orange boulder clay subsoil with no evidence of archaeological activity. As such it is recommended that proposed development be allowed to proceed with no further archaeological requirement.
