An archaeological evaluation was undertaken ahead of the proposed construction of a replacement dwelling and new detached garage on land 50m south of 18 Ballylough Road, Jerrettspass.
The archaeological evaluation consisted of the excavation of 4 test trenches across the footprint of the proposed development. The trenches were excavated using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. In all trenches a single shallow layer of topsoil was removed which gave way to a compact, yellow/brown/grey clay gravel subsoil. No evidence of archaeological deposits was observed during monitoring.
