An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of a residential development on lands north of the Glenshane Road, Drumahoe, Co Derry.
A total of 34 test trenches were excavated by mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The depths of the trenches remained a consistent 0.3-0.7m throughout the site. The trenches were excavated through topsoil directly onto subsoil. This consisted of a yellowish-orange sandy clay with moderate inclusions of small-sized stones. Throughout the site there were a number of modern drains and some slight furrow marks.
No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
