A programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken across the site of Brockaghboy Wind Farm (townlands of Brockaghboy, Coolcoscreaghan, Dunnavenny and Drumbane) located approximately 12km east-north-east of Dungiven, County Derry between 24 June 2016 and 15 February 2017. The monitoring programme covered the topsoil stripping at the locations of site compounds, Met mast, substation and 15 wind turbine bases with associated access roads and hardstand areas (Turbines 1, 2, 7-18 and 20). Three small sites were found within the development footprint.

Site 1, located on the north-western facing slope of a valley in the townland of Brockaghboy, consisted of two large pits and a spread of burnt stone fragments (remnants of a possible burnt mound). Site 2 was located in the townland of Dunnavenny on part of an access road leading to Turbine 18 and within the footprint of the hardstand area of Turbine 14. It consisted of a small cairn of stones and a small pit with possible burning. The third area (Site 3) was roughly 100m to the south of Site 2 and consisted of 3 small to mid-sized pits with charcoal and burnt bone fragments found in each. A small number of artefacts were found during monitoring and a scan of the topsoil from the cuttings, all of which were pieces of struck flint including blades and some with evidence of retouch.
