Test trenching was carried out on the 2.4 hectare site of a proposed housing development to the south of Rathcormack village. The site is located immediately to the west of a private house which was formerly the parish rectory, on land which was formerly glebe land. Some earthmoving had taken place on the site in the past, associated with a planned development which had not progressed. A tarmac driveway had been laid down, topsoil had been stripped in some areas, and ground level had been raised in others.
Twenty test trenches were excavated. Several drainage trenches and agricultural furrows were identified. Three sherds of medieval pottery were found in topsoil.
