Monitoring of the mechanical excavation of two pits, 1m sq x 0.5m deep, was carried at on the junction of St Finbar’s Place/Glasslinn Road, south of the Methodist Church, in March 2017, to install 10kg anode bags for Gas Networks Ireland. The stratigraphy exposed consisted of roadbase and infilled aggregate surrounding the pipes. No archaeology was noted during the works.
