Two trenches were excavated adjacent to a stream along the townland boundary between Ballythomas East and Ballythomas West. A circular feature approximately 6m diameter which showed evidence of scorching was revealed in the northernmost trench. Some cultivation related features were also revealed in the trench. In the northernmost trench small spreads of burnt stone extending over approximately 13m of the trench suggested the presence of a burnt mound or possible fulachta fia.
