Two test trenches were excavated across part of the site of a distillery, on the Butlerstown River, which was destroyed by fire in 2016. The subsurface remains of eight walls were revealed in the north-western end of the site along the southern bank of the river. These appear to be assoicated with the building destroyed by fire in 2016 and were probably part of the distillery. The partial remains of a circular brick-built feature was revealed at the north-eastern end of the site adjacent to the river which may have formed part of a heating or ventilation system within the distillery complex.
The subsurface remains of both random rubble and brick walls revealed in the southern end of the site were probably associated with the 19th-century distillery.
