Monitoring of repairs to and the extension of an outfall pipe where it discharges into the Argideen River at Courtmacsherry Estuary was undertaken as part of the Timoleague to Courtmacsherry Sewerage Scheme. The works took place on the foreshore of the estuary adjacent to, but just outside, the zone of notification for Timoleague Abbey (CO123-050002). The stratigraphy consisted of a mix of mid-grey sandy silt with occasional red brick and frequent shell fragments to a depth of approximately 0.6m with light grey sandy clay below. There were also frequent sub-angular to sub-rounded stones on the surface. The maximum depth of excavation was 1.2m. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded during the monitoring of works on the foreshore.
