A licence was issued for testing as part of further information request by Cork County Council due to concerns that a possible castle may have been located within the proposed development area. There is a possibility that the castle refered to is the adjacent Castleboy House which is occupied by the client. A total of 4 trenches were excavated. The topsoil and subsoil was uniform throughout the site and showed no signs of disturbance. No archaeology was found.
