The manual excavation of two 1m x 1m trials pits was undertaken in a lawn area within the grounds of a late 19th-century Methodist church on Bridge Street. This was to assist in an assessment of the proposed realignment of existing river steps into the south-east corner of the property. The church is not listed as a recorded archaeological site and there are no records of burials within its grounds.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the site investigation.
