An archaeological evaluation was undertaken ahead of the construction of a proposed residential development at 25 Deans Walk, Lurgan, Co. Armagh. Four test trenches were excavated by mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The depths of the trenches varied greatly across the site. Trench 1 revealed extensive deposits of modern fill and rubble. Trenches 2 and 3 varied in depth between 0.2 and 2.5m due to various drains and water courses extending through them. The trenches all showed a rise in the subsoil to the west however to the east there were several drains and large amounts of grey clay uncovered along with a tree/bush bowl. Trenches 2 – 4 all contained the same orange/yellowish sandy subsoil with small stone inclusions. No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
