Planning permission has been granted for the development of a block of one shop with six apartments over three floors at Nos 1 and 2 Bayview Road, Ballycastle, Co Antrim upon the condition that an archaeological programme of works is implemented in accordance with Planning Policy Guidelines PPS6 BH4 with particular reference to the site being located within the designated Ballycastle Area of Archaeological Potential.
Monitoring of ground works associated with Preliminary Phase Works in the form of lifting of existing ground surface and excavation of a single foundation trench was carried out over a period of 1 day.
No archaeological material was encountered during monitoring works at this stage of development.
