An archaeological evaluation was carried out at lands 200m north-east of 70 Lylehill Road, Templepatrick, Co Antrim in response to a request for more information from DfC: Historic Environment Division under Planning Policy PPS6 BH3.
The proposed development is located in close proximity to the Bronze Age Hillfort of Lyle’s Hill (ANT056:005). An archaeological evaluation in the form of targeted test trenching within the boundaries of the site was carried out over 1 day.
The evaluation confirmed that the majority of the site is sterile of archaeological remains with the sole exception of the discovery of a small possible prehistoric cooking spread located at the central northern portion of the site boundaries. The location of the archaeological material has been accurately recorded and preserved in situ.
