An archaeological evaluation was carried out ahead of the proposed construction of a residential development at 54a Causeway Street, Portrush. The site is located within the Portrush area of archaeological potential.
A single trench, itself a small section of the proposed developmentās foundations, was excavated by mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The trench was 0.57m in depth. Once the overlaying concrete was removed, it was excavated through a loose modern fill directly onto the naturally occurring subsoil, a yellow-brown sand.
No archaeological features were identified within the trench.
